Brescia shares compassion with Community Living London on United Way’s Day of Caring
Brescia University College staff and faculty members joined the staff at Community Living London (CLL) on June 3 for the annual United Way Day of Caring. This is Brescia’s sixth year of participation in the opportunity to bring people together to help a community organization for a day.
Community Outreach Co-ordinator Donnafaye Milton joined one faculty and two staff members in pulling weeds, clearing brush, and cleaning the yard at the organization. CLL treated their volunteers with a barbeque before putting them to work. Milton said, “Designed to assist community agencies supported by United Way, the activities of the Day of Caring allowed us to give back to an organization we’re proud to count among our community partners.”
CLL is a new community partner for Brescia, hosting about 10 students who provided service while learning more about people who have an intellectual disability as part of Brescia’s Service Learning course this past year.
