Project Tembo
TEMBO (Tanzania Education and Micro Business Opportunity) is a registered Canadian charity that provides funding and support primarily, but not exclusively, to girls and women pursuing educational and small business goals in the Maasai homeland of rural northern Tanzania.
TEMBO provides funding for the training of teachers, tuition for girls to attend secondary school, tuition for apprenticeship programs, and start-up financing for small business initiatives. TEMBO also provides materials and support as needed, and assists in developing the skills needed for women to achieve their educational and business goals. As an organization with NGO status in Tanzania, TEMBO seeks to engage in partnerships with schools and organizations in Canada and Tanzania to ensure sustainability, transparency, and accountability.
TEMBO also seeks to seed leadership and empowerment in the women of rural Tanzania. For more information about TEMBO and its projects see www.projectembo.org.
