Heather Reier, political science grad, and Class of 1996, is the creative force of Cake Beauty, a collection of cremes, suds and scrubs with decadent, nourishing ingredients accompanied by sophisticated packaging and a sassy, fun concept. Cake products are a favourite among celebrities like Kate Hudson and Oprah.
Heather launched the company from her kitchen in 2002, with 10 products. In November 2008, Heather was recognized as an innovator in the Globe & Mail for her commercial success.
Dr. Marlene MacLeish, English major and Class of 1968, continued her education at Harvard University where she completed her Masters of Education and Doctor of Education. She is Professor of Medical Education at Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. She is also team leader of NASA's National Space Biomedical Research Institute Education and Public Outreach Program. Dr. MacLeish was inducted into the International Academy of Astronautics in recognition of her contribution to the field of exploration education. Dr. MacLeish credits her time at Brescia and her liberal arts education as fundamental to her success.
Susan Horvath, Home Economics grad and Class of 1977. "Fuel the passion. Your passion. The passion of others. If you are passionate about something you will give it your all - and no one can ask for more than that."
Ms. Horvath has followed her own advice. After a successful career teaching as a Home Economics professor, she followed her passion to become a fundraiser. She currently serves as President of the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation in Toronto, raising philanthropic support for medical research, patient care and community outreach. Ms. Horvath has received many awards for her accomplishments and leadership.
Shannon Bryant, philosophy grad, Class of 1990, took a leap of faith when she left her family and hometown of London to pursue a singing career in California and it was a risk that she has never regretted.
Bryant says, "I grew up Catholic and I liked that there was an all women's campus which felt unique, comfortable and special to me. Brescia was a great place to develop leadership, by reinforcing strength and leadership in women."

Tahirih Naylor-Thimm, sociology grad, Class of 2000, was recognized as Brescia's first recipient of the Young Alumnae Award of Merit in 2008. Tahirih leads the strategic planning and implementation of the Baha'i International Community's involvement in work on the issues of human rights, social development and sustainability with the United Nations in New York. "We know what it looks like to interact with someone who is concerned with his own good. And, we know what happens when communities and nations are only interested in their own selfish interests.The unique thing about my experience at Brescia was that we were encouraged to be of service, to offer our skills and capabilities to the world."
