Local, organic, and socially responsible fare and wares
for sale at The Circle at Brescia’s annual fundraiser

London, ON – Brescia University College will host More Than a Book Sale on Saturday, November 24, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the St. James Auditorium. The day-long event features gently-used books, local artisans, live music, organic and local food, and refreshments.

The annual event is hosted by The Circle at Brescia, a program and resource centre that welcomes students and women from the community from all backgrounds and experiences. Kim Milani, Director of The Circle says, “The Circle is a vibrant, multi-faceted women’s centre at Brescia that serves women in the London community. Our focus is on women’s contributions to the local and national landscape through activism, promoting ecological sustainability and change, spirituality, creative works, and beyond. From large events to small gatherings, The Circle engages the spirit of women as power for transformation and change in our world.”

More Than a Book Sale marks a unique partnership with The Circle and the London art community. More than 25 local artisans will be featured and attendees can enjoy shopping for every occasion.  Live music will be played by Celtic Harpist Jennifer White. The sale will feature O’Shea’s Farms farmer’s market as well as vendors selling comestibles, ranging from organic pastries and preserves, to herbal teas and handmade truffles.

“One of the most wonderful things about this fundraiser is that other non-profit agencies such as Project Tembo, Arthur Ford Nature Park, WENDWOA (West Nile Disadvantaged Women and Orphans Association), and the London Grands are able to raise money for their own organizations and good works. It is a win-win situation,” says Milani.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to fund programming, events, and the resource library at The Circle Women’s Centre, and other community organizations.
