You will notice, in residence rooms and at shared computers, a number of tips for being prepared for a pandemic. To recap:
Try to carry a personal supply of hand sanitizer and use it frequently, especially after using shared computers or equipment, before and after eating and trips to the bathroom, after coughing or sneezing, and after using public transit.
Arrange a pick-up plan with your parents or friends in case you become ill. Brescia will have a number of areas reserved for convalescing but doctors and health officials strongly advise that students who become ill should make plans to return home for rest and caregiving, where possible.
Make sure you have a buddy on campus - someone you can inform if you become ill and need assistance. They can also help share the news with faculty and staff so you can stay in bed where you belong.
Try to maintain a first-aid kit and some flu remedies in case you become ill. You might also consider keeping on hand a stock of food and beverages such as instant soup, Gatorade, juice, etc.
Despite your busy academic and extracurricular schedules, make sure you give yourself some time for rest and relaxation. It’s an important part of staying healthy, as is a proper diet.
The most important things you can do to stay healthy are simple - stay informed, wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water for 15 seconds, and cough and sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve, rather than your hand.
Please know that accommodations will be made in the event you become ill at Brescia and every effort will be made to assist all students in meeting course requirements.
