Honoured Brescia alumna returns to London to address Congress of Black Women
London, ON – Distinguished Brescia alumna Dr. Marlene MacLeish (’68) will return to London to inspire women leaders at the Leaving a Footprint Annual Scholarship Awards and Dinner Dance, hosted by the Congress of Black Women – London Chapter, on June 12.
The event raises funds to support awards granted by the Congress, including the Dr. Marlene MacLeish Award, which is given to a part-time or full-time student at Brescia University College who demonstrates interest in community service to the African Canadian community. This award is named to honour MacLeish’s leadership and accomplishments as a member of the African Canadian community. She is currently a professor of Medical Education at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
MacLeish will inspire her audience by addressing, “Reaching for the Stars: Leaving a Legacy of Excellence and Service for the Next Generation.” For more information about this event, please go to www.cbwlondon.org
During her visit to London, MacLeish will also be attending a cocktail reception hosted by Tina Bax, President of CultureWorks. As a past recipient of Brescia’s Carmelle Murphy Alumna Award of Distinction Award, it is fitting that MacLeish will speak about “How Brescia Shaped My Future.”
