Created specifically for Brescia and produced locally by J.B. Simpson & Sons Jewellers Inc. the ring is simple in design, yet elegantly displays the Brescia symbol. The ring is available in silver and yellow or white gold.

A New Tradition for the
Baccalaureate and Magisterial Ceremony

Baccalaureate and Magisterial is the annual event that celebrates the academic accomplishments of both our undergraduate and graduate students in a beautiful ceremony attended by family, friends, faculty, and staff. New to the ceremony this year will be an official Ring Ceremony, an addition that we know our graduates will come to see as part of the fabric of Brescia. Each graduate will receive her Brescia ring from me and will take part in pledging an oath with her classmates.

Brescia Helps to Put a Ring on 2012 and Beyond

In an effort to establish the tradition of the Brescia Ring Ceremony in a way that is not financially overwhelming for our students, Brescia has made the decision to 'phase-in' this program by partially funding the purchase of silver rings for graduating students over the next three years. The Class of 2012 will be the first class to participate in the ring ceremony on June 17, 2012, at St. Peter's Basilica. To be considered eligible for the ring in 2012 a student must:

• Be eligible for Convocation through Western University in 2012 (February, June, or October); and
• Have her finger sized by May 1, 2012 (Following this date, an additional charge may apply because we are bound by bulk buying to achieve an affordable rate).

While it is our hope that you will participate in the Ring Ceremony at Baccalaureate and Magisterial on June 17th, if you are unable to be with us for this amazing moment, then you will be invited to attend an alternative Ring Ceremony later this year. We want to make every effort to include all Brescia grads in a Ring Ceremony since this ring is so much more than a beautiful piece of jewellery. It will become a lasting tie with Brescia and with all that you have enjoyed and learned in your time here. It will also be a remembrance of the friendships you have made with fellow students, and with faculty and staff members.

Starting this coming fall 2012, students in their second, third, and fourth year will annually pay a $50 ancillary fee that will go towards the purchase of their alumnae ring. Brescia has committed to assisting in the purchase of the ring over the next three years by topping up student contributions until the time when students have covered the entire cost of the ring through student fees.

It’s for Alumnae Too

Since introducing the ring, many Brescia alumnae have already purchased their very own alumnae ring, with additional inquiries coming in every day. We hear on a regular basis of the pride that comes with wearing the Brescia ring and of the lasting memories that it triggers. A formal Ring Ceremony will also be introduced at Homecoming each year, to allow for alumnae to take part in this latest Brescia tradition and say their oath together with friends they have made at Brescia.
