Alumnae Welcome Reception

The annual Alumnae Welcome Reception is designed to officially welcome our newest graduates to Brescia’s growing Alumnae Association. Every spring, past alumnae gather on campus to help celebrate our new graduates with refreshments and an inspirational key-note speaker; typically one of our own alumnae.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, a virtual event will be hosted this year.

This is an event to help celebrate the end of the final semester at Brescia for the Class of 2021!
The upcoming graduates will be joined by staff, faculty and alumnae to celebrate their accomplishments and share in the excitement of thier June graduation. 

It is an event not to miss, as you will hear from graduates vying for the role of Grad Class Speaker,  learn more about the 'Class of 2021 Celebration' scheduled for June 21st, have a chance to win some great raffle prizes and hear from alumna, Shawna Van Esch.

'Professional Presence in a Virtual World' Shawna Van Esch

As the Senior Vice-President of Public Affairs for Citi Canada, Shawna acts as the first point of contact for external communications, supporting Citi’s media relations and profile-building strategy. Given the pandemic, the nature of business has changed drastically.

Her talk will address the importance of creating a polished online presence as well as provide tips and tricks for presenting your best self while conducting business online. These topics are not only important for new graduates embarking on their first career, but essential skills for everyone in the workplace today.

Shawna has more than 10 years of communications experience including internal communications, web and social media, and event planning. Shawna has been with Citi since 2006. Shawna holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.s) in Sociology and Media Information Technoculture, from Brescia University College - Western University and a post-degree diploma in Public Relations from Continuing Studies at Western. Shawna has taught in the PR Diploma program at Western and is the co-chair for the Citi Women’s Network, Toronto.
