St. Pierre, Sister Claire

St. Pierre, Sister Claire, (Claire Marie) entered Eternal Life on Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. Angela’s Retirement Meadow in Chatham, Ontario. She was born on May 23, 1937 in Windsor, the daughter of the late Rillie (Chauvin) and Ulric St. Pierre. Sister Claire entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham in 1958. She received both bilingual and English Teaching Certificates from Ottawa University and a music degree from the University of Western Ontario. During her religious life Sr. Claire taught in Tecumseh, Chatham, St. Joseph, Pointe aux Roches, Essex and Wallaceburg. She also served as a member of the local leadership at “The Pines”, and volunteered in the health care wing there. She was an integral member of the building committee for Villa Angela, and was plant manager from 2002 - 2013 at Villa Angela. She was involved in music ministry at Villa Angela where she was a cantor and also served on the Bursary Committee. She is survived by her sisters Cecile Charron, Marie St. Pierre and Jeannine Lacourciere and her brother Alphonse as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and sisters Simone Beehler and Annette Smithson and brother George. The Ursuline Community will celebrate Sr. Claire’s life at a private prayer service to be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 3:00 to 3:30 and 3:45 to 4:15 at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William Street, Chatham. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Chatham. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham.
