Brescia University

Meal Plan

All residents living in Clare Hall are required to purchase a Meal Plan. Any remaining Meal Plan balance at the end of the academic year is non-refundable.

Meal plan dollars are loaded on your WesternONE card which works like a debit card with a declining balance. You can use your meal plan dollars at both the Mercato and the Starbucks Kiosk.

There are two types of food credit in your meal plan-Basic Dollars and Convenience Dollars.

  • Basic Dollars are used to purchase meals which are tax-exempt under the condition that a minimum number of meals are included as per the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines for university meal plans.
  • Convenience Dollars  are used to purchase individual food and beverage items that are not part of a meal. This can include pre-packaged snacks (candy, potato chips, etc.) carbonated beverages, and caffeinated beverages. These purchases are subject to applicable taxes.

Residents can request to convert Convenience Dollars into Basic Dollars using the Meal Plan Change Form. Additionally, students have an option to "top-up" their meal plan at any time during the academic year at The Hive.
