Brigette running with rugby ball before being tackled

Brigette Butler (Vig)

It’s about running like a girl playing like an equal

Brescia is proud to have a number of outstanding women athletes, who devote countless hours of time and energy to excel both on and off the field, court, arena or pitch.

We know that as young women progress through their athletic career, representation in sport diminishes--and women's professional leagues and leadership positions aren't always on equal playing fields.

Brescia student athletes lead by example--shattering stereotypes--where it's not about running like a girl, it's about playing like an equal, striving for equal representation and funding in women's sports.

Q&A

Meet third-year Family Studies and Human Development & Psychology student, Brigette Butler (Vig). Discover how Brigette leads together by putting her passions into action leading on and off the field.

  1. Sports icon

Why is it important to see bold women leading on a sports field?

Our generation is setting the precedent for the next generation. We are pushing society to acknowledge women as they are: powerful and capable of achieving their goals on and off the field.

  2. Education icon

What are your beliefs about Brescia’s all-women’s learning environment?

Brescia offers the opportunity for all women to challenge themselves in an open, non-judgemental environment. Students support one another and staff push us to reach our full potential.

  3. Advice icon

What advice would you give to Brescia students who want to lead boldly?

Take whatever passion you feel and put it into action. If not you, then who? Use your gifts to serve others.

  4. Leading together icon

How do you choose to lead together in your community?

I lead together through my actions. I and Brescia students around me put in effort each day in class, on the field and in our personal relationships. We work together to overcome roadblocks and with the communities' support, we strive to make a positive difference around the word.
