Grace leading a group of Brescia students in a peaceful protest

Grace Ayad

It’s about speaking out up

Social justice is at the core of Brescia's mission, led by our founders, the Ursuline Sisters--strong advocates for women's education.

It's not about speaking out, it's about speaking up--where leadership is defined by many unique student voices across campus.

Brescia encourages students to speak up, lead with wisdom and justice, and advocate for others where necessary to tackle the complex issues facing our world today.

  1. Advocacy icon

How do you demonstrate advocacy? Why is this important?

I demonstrate advocacy by using my gifts to be a catalyst for long lasting change. It’s important to advocate on behalf of those who feel as though they have no voice, and be a strong force for the community.

  2. Education icon

What are your beliefs about Brescia’s all-women’s learning environment?

Brescia’s all-women learning community is such a wonderful experience because you learn with those who are like-minded, strong, passionate and bold. It challenges you to do your best and there is unlimited support to pursue your academic dreams.

  3. Advice icon

What advice would you give to Brescia students who want to lead boldly.

Don’t let anything stop you. Not a difficult semester, not a bad day, or a bad opportunity. And, most importantly, be true to yourself. Remember to invite community members along your journey, you’ll be stronger for it!

  4. Leading together icon

How do you choose to lead together in your community?

I choose to lead by using nutrition literacy and advocacy as my torch to guide me along my path of being bold. By using the skills and techniques I learned throughout my journey at Brescia, I am able to make my mark for the greater good.
