I highly recommend visiting Dr. Kubow at the writing centre. She is very welcoming, caring, and passionate about writing. I was fortunate to meet Dr. Kubow early in my undergraduate journey as she taught me how to improve my writing skills. The knowledge I gained from her helped me achieve my academic goals. She also provided me with valuable feedback on my graduate school applications through multiple individual sessions. She consistently goes above and beyond to help students and I am very grateful for everything she has done for me. The writing centre is a great resource for students that can help them reach their academic and career goals.

The Writing Centre is a great resource for all students! Dr. Kubow is extremely kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She has helped me with editing multiple professional/ graduate school applications and has provided me with in-depth feedback. Her questions really allowed me to reflect on my life experiences and their applications to my future studies and goals. From my first application to my last, she was always there to support me, which I am very appreciative for!

Thank you, Dr. Kubow and the Writing Centre for offering such a warm and welcoming environment for students to thrive!

Recent Review (2022):

I am very appreciative to have had the Writing Centre Coordinator's assistance when applying to graduate school. Dr. Kubow is a very kind, supportive, and approachable person. She went above and beyond to help me. She responded to my emails within 24 hours and answered all of my questions. Dr. Kubow did everything she could to give me feedback on writing drafts before deadlines, even responding after hours!

Dr. Kubow helped with editing my grammar and suggested ways to rewrite sentences. Her prompts allowed me to self-reflect on my goals, which was key to my graduate writing pieces. She commended me on my hard work and where I shined; she was rooting for my success! Overall, I was amazed and astonished by the support I received from Dr. Kubow. Her constructive feedback has allowed me to improve my writing abilities greatly. I have submitted graduate application documents that I am very proud of, all thanks to her.

After my experience, I strongly encourage all Brescia students to use the Writing Centre. It has many resources to enhance your writing and achieve your goals.

Recent Review (2020)

Maggie and all of her staff at Brescia’s Writing Centre have provided me with excellent writing support over the past year. I firmly believe their support contributed to the high level of academic success I achieved in Year 3 of my program. I was also very impressed with how well they handled their transition to an online only format which made it easy for me to use their services this semester. With their continued support I look forward to achieving similar success in Year 4.

Maggie herself was always accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure I received the help that I needed. I truly felt she was rooting for my success as a student. In addition, the writing staff has always provided me with high quality service and even coached me through some of the writing challenges I have faced.

I have used their services for everything from individual and group assignments to application essays. I found using their services for group assignments to be particularly helpful since they provide feedback as a neutral party. Group assignments can be challenging but they helped make them easier for me with their support.

I highly encourage students to go and make an appointment with the Writing Centre today! They are there to support all of us students to achieve success and reach our academic goals.

Thank you again for all that you and your staff do.

With much gratitude and appreciation,

Nicole Weber BSc Candidate | Honors Specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics Year 4
