Brescia University College announces new Chair of Board of Trustees

London, ON – Brescia University College is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Fryday-Field to a two-year term as Chair of the Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2017.

“It is a privilege to be taking on this leadership role at Brescia. Now more than ever, women’s education and the development of women leaders are critical to our society,” says Fryday-Field. She goes on to say, “I am deeply committed to the students, faculty and staff and the many communities who support Brescia. I am excited to work with my Board colleagues and the University leadership to continue to advance Brescia and its mission.”

Fryday-Field brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in strategic thinking and governance to Brescia. As the Senior Partner at Meridian Edge Leadership and Governance Consulting Group, she has over twenty years of experience in both public and for-profit leadership. Since joining the Board of Trustees in 2013, Fryday-Field has demonstrated her strong commitment and leadership, most recently leading the development of the University’s current five-year strategic plan Inspiring the Next Century of Women Leaders.

In addition to her work with Brescia, Fryday-Field is a dedicated community volunteer, serving as the Chair and Past Chair of the Board for the United Way of London and Middlesex, a member of the Grants Committee of the London Community Foundation, the Arthritis Society, the Jewels and Jeans Signature Fundraising Event Organizing Committee and the Stop the Leak Steering Committee for London Health Sciences Foundation.

Dr. Mumm, Principal of Brescia, says, “We are honoured that Karen has accepted this leadership role. Her passion for and dedication to Brescia and the education of women is inspiring. I am certain her commitment to excellence will serve Brescia well as we enter our next century of education when we mark our centenary in 2019. We are grateful for her service.”
